after 63 days, still no Cuda
« on: April 12, 2008 - 04:55:40 PM »
I went to LA last February to buy my cuda. I shipped it to Belgium, the ship had to make a detour because of a strike at the port of Antwerp (my home town) and now the custom officer start to act difficult.   :stomp:
They imagine that a guy who can buy a muscle car in the States is rich so he can pay more import duties and tax.   :banghead:

My shipping agent will try to charge the usual  6% tax but he isn't optimistic.
The officer wants 10% import duties and then 21% tax on the total.
So he wants me to pay an extra 4 grand before I can pick her up at the warehouse.

Monday I need to call back to check the outcome. If not I am going to try to talk to the officer.
Wish me luck.

Sorry to hear that you`re having trouble with the customs.
Don`t you got any regulations that tells you what and how much to pay when you import a vehicle? I`m sure of that they can`t charge what ever they like.
Belgium is a member of EU, aren`t we supposed to have the same rules when trading with non EU countries?

dutch, my shipping agent told me next time to ship thru your country, they still charge 6% :clueless:

Swedefish, they should have, did a search and found some regulations so I gonna talk to the officer if they don't agree.

Man, that sucks mate. Nothing worse than "extra hidden fees" slapped to you face in the last second. I've waited months for a car to ship, my last toy left in August 07 and I haven't got it yet (conversion shop) and have only seen it once, for around 10 minutes. It's still another 8 weeks off. I've gotten good at waiting with restorations and all. lol

Keep us posted, hope all get sorted for the better.
