Did any v code 440-6pk 70' cudas come with factory air?

NO factory A/C 440-6's or hemis. Highest HP engine with A/C was the 440-4 bbl HP (375HP)

Correct.  The AC compressor would have interefered with the air cleaner on any multi-carb car, or on any car with a shaker.  So no AC on any Hemi, 440-6, or 340-6.

Honestly, they could have worked around that pretty easily.  I've seen cars with the big air cleaner reworked for the compressor.  Chrysler just didn't want people with high output cars grenading AC compressors under warranty, in my opinion.

the smaller Sanden compressor can be fitted easily with a small notch in the air cleaner base , but the factory never offered

There are also other kits available now in teh aftermarket that require no notching of the air cleaner at all and will work on all factory multi carb setups.

I always thought it was strange that you could get a/c on a 440-4bbl with AT but not a manual trans, why is a/c ok on a 383 with a manual trans but not a 440?

I have often wondered that myself. I know the factory frowned on A/C cars with a 4 speed because you could rev it to the moon and if that is the case it would seem odd that the higher reving 383 could have 4 speed and A/C but the higher power, lower reving 440 could not.
