Seventy-Fours??
« on: December 29, 2001 - 03:25:24 AM »
I know that '74 Cudas are rare but what about '74 Chally's?  What were the production numbers for '74 Challengers?

Did the '74s come with catalytic convertors?

They made 16,437 Challengers, no breakdown on Rallye vs non-Rallye. They made 6,745 1974 Barracudas and 4,989 Cuda's in 1974. So, the 1974 Cuda's, and even the Barracudas are much rarer than the Challengers. this seems to be the case with most other years as well, Dodge just did a better sales job than Plymouth :)

*I don't think they had Cat's on any year, just mufflers and resonators.

Bad Hemi was right about there being no cats on Challengers in  1974 ,production was higher on the Challengers But,production was not a full year,it stopped a little more than half way through the model Year....
1974 will be very collectable some day,,ect.the 360 auto and 4sds,    good luck

What year did they start with those durn catalytic converters, anyway?

I was astounded to learn that front disc brakes began in '65.

I got caught in the end of the 74 Challenger production.  I ordered a 74 Rallye on January 1974.  After waiting 13 weeks for  my car, I was informed by the dealer that production had stopped and that my car would not be built.  I often wonder who close it was to being built

Today though I do have a 74 Chally.  It is strictly a drag car.
