They Want Lucy - Scam? What To Do?
« on: April 15, 2008 - 10:11:32 PM »

Hey guys, I got this email today out of the blue, never heard of her, them or this business until this morning. Google searches didn't show up too much but there does appear to be a company who produce this with the same name. What should I do, say yes and risk them taking more (not sure how they could though). Sounds good to me but wanted to pass it on to other car owners (specifally E-Body). It's only photos, right? I think it's legit because most scammers don't ask they would have just taken them by now, right? Thanks guys.

Hi Carl,

We are working on a new BluRay release of the 1970 film/Vanishing Point/. I'm writing to ask your permission to use photos of your Challenger from your website www.carlwalski.com in some new documentaries we are producing for the disc. We'd be happy to give you a 'special thanks' in the credits. Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thanks,

Only do it if she's willing to send you pics of her...  :naughty:

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!  IT might end up looking like Death Proof!  :scared:

You have a good point, Carl.   If they were scammers, they would've/could've just taken the pics from your site and done whatever to them.  Give them a call, talk to Heather and see what gives.  Would be cool to see Lucy on a BluRay disc!

Yes seems so

Award winning Advertising company which specializes in POP/Home Entertainment/Theatrical standees. Multimedia division focuses on DVD, Print, Content and AV.

That happened to me once...contacted by a magazine based out of Calgary...wanted to use few pictures I had in my Flickr account...no idea how they found me lool I thought it was BS but said sure why not...nothing could happen to me personally.

Turned out they were legit...I received the magazine in the mail with my pictures in it...seems weird I guess to be contacted in such a way...but so much is done via the internet these days...

Go for it !!

I would ask for some proof of who they are first but I think they may be legit just because they asked your permission first. If it was a scam they would just steal the pic's. If they are legit then they would need a signed release from you so you couldn't go back later and sue them.

I also heard of another Vanishing Point Remake.  By some guy named Richard Kelly and 20th Century Fox.  Here is the wikipedia link, hope it works.
