anyone converted a mopar to E-85 yet?

That would be lots of work. Remove all rubber and plastic from the fuel system. Re-jet the carb big time. In answer to your question, I haven't seen anyone do this yet. I believe there are only a few places that you can get E-85 right now. None around me.

I was doing re-search on this myself, down to the point of pricing rejetted carbs.

The kick in the pants was..... 1 station in the area by me.
My car does not get good enough fuel mileage for that to work lol.

IMO, the biggest advantage to using E85 would be to run higher compression or bigger boost. Since changing the mechanical compression ratio is a bigger job than just swapping out a carb, there isn't much practical point in doing so unless you are building an engine up from scratch. If you engine is boosted, then you can just dial in more pressure with different pulleys or waste gate springs.

Since you will burn more E85 than gasoline to make the same amount of power, if your doing it for a mileage benefit, then you have to figure out the price differential where you break even. In my flex fuel Suburban, E85 needs to be $.65 less per gallon than gasoline for me to realize any financial benefits form using it. Sometimes that difference is there, some times it is not.

There is also the whole availability thing as well. Some places it is everywhere, some places it is not. There are only three stations in my city where I can get E85, so the hassle of making a special trip to fuel up is also a factor.

Edelbrock sells E85 carbs now. I saw them on display at SEMA 2 years ago.

I haven't seen anyone in the carburated world do this yet, but a few guys on LS1tech.com have had great success with it in their modded 4th gen fbodies.  I have seen dyno graphs of cars that make 450 rwhp on 93 octane go to around 480 rwhp on E85.  The downside is increased fuel consumption with E85.  Stock type vehicles, I wouldn't expect to see more than a 5-8 rwhp gain.

Better question is why would you want to?  30%-40% less gas mileage, similar power losses...doesn't make sense to me.  :clueless:

On a built engine that is not boosted it depends on the price break vs gasoline. Around here, E85 is almost a buck cheaper than gas, which means you can burn up quite a bit more of it and still come out ahead $$ wise compared to gas. However, if your building an engine up from scratch, E85 allows  you to add more compression, hence more power. If your boosted, E85 allows you to run more boost, hence more power.

mopar muscle rag did an article, i think it was a charger ill have to look in my library,err bathroom, he did a 440 and it really put out some ponies ill look for it! :stirpot:
