I wonder what the pitfalls of restoring a burnt car are. Can you media blast the metal down till its clean again? Are all the panels warped beyond repair??

Nope, metal is permantly ruined, cristalised, only good could be used for a stock car derby.... it pains me to say that but the metal is useless.
A minutes silence for the recent departed... RIP     :walkaway:

What a shame. The bad news is that the car is a total complete loss. Nothing on that car is usable save for maybe a part or two. He describes the engine and all the work done to it which is also probably null and void especially if the fire started there. If gets even close to the $5k starting bid I'll be blow away and some poor soul will be getting a worthless car. RIP :'(

My guess is that whoever buys that "car" is really buying the title and VIN. If anyone bites it'll be for a rebody.

Considering it is in Elmhurst, IL, I really hope that isn't a car I've seen at a couple of the Chicagoland Mopar Connection shows.  That really sucks and it's yet another reason I plan on having a fire extinguisher in both the Challenger as well as the Stealth (just saw this past week another car had an engine fire and ruined the entire electrical/engine/front section of the car).

if it got hot enough to make the windshield support sag, I doubt there is much saveable on that car  :violin:
