Swap A/C car to non-A/C, what all is involved?

Ok, I've decided to convert my 70' Cuda A/C car over to a non-A/C car.  Doesn't make a very good 440-6pk clone with A/C hehe...

So I'm making a list in my head but please help me fill it out.

So far I think I need to obtain:
Non A/C Dash Pad (going to get a UR pad)
Heater Control Switch (where is good source?)
Heater Control Dash Panel (for Rallye dash)
Non A/C Heater Box w/ Heater Core (probably get a rebuilt one)

What else am I missing?  Also, has anyone else done this?  Any tips or thoughts?  Any good sources you would recommend?

Change the firewall over to a non A/C hole to look correct.

Are you going to change the dash harness to non ac? Under the hood harness?

Good points.  The car hasn't had the working A/C parts under the hood in some time so nothing on the motor to swap.  Wasn't aware of the non-A/C wiring harness.  Where can those be obtained?
Yeah, I know swapping the firewall might be tough...  I thought I would cover the holes with something instead.  It doesn't have to be perfect...  But since I wanted a new dash pad anyway, I thought it would be time to do this.

If you plan on just covering the holes in the firewall, the non AC heater box won't fit.  You'll have to use the AC one.   :swaying:

I get the harnesses from swap meets, ebay, yearone.  Under the hood harness has the dryer and compressor wires, under the dash has the switch and heater box harness on it.

I'm doing this to Madeline as well, what is needed to change the firewall to a non-A/C one? A non-A/C firewall?? :sly: I have a non A/C box, non A/C dash, non-A/C dash lower panel cluster (heater control), complete new restored heater box with everything needed. I guess all I need to know is the firewall part. Are you talking about the two holes on the passenger side? Bung/weld them up or? Thanks and sorry for the hi-jack albeit on topic.

Carl, the hole size and actual location are different from A/C and non A/C. So you gotta get a section of the right half of the non A/C firewall.  After you match the cut portions together against each other, Stitch weld the new section in.

Scratch that, just talked to the main resto guy at the shop and he had already looked at that area. We'll be welding up the original A/C holes and rerouting the new non a/c holes to suit and we'll make them as "invisible" or out of view completely (or as possible). I just want this car "junk" free and clutter-less. I planned ages ago to have the wiring in the fenders so this follows suits nicely with my plan, I just want to open the hood and see HEMI lol. Thanks all the same for the help. To the original poster, Goodmark do make reproduction upper firewalls with non A/C, part # 2120-380-701S. If you are worried about being correct this maybe the way to go or a used original replacement. Best of luck with it.

I converted my non AC firewall to AC, by cutting the holes open to adapt the A/C box.  The only difference was that my lip around the blower motor is not there.  To convert to non A/C,  just do as Carl's body man is doing.  Cut off the blower lip and weld in a plate over the coolant, A/C line holes, and blower motor hole.  Then just cut 2 new holes for the new heater line locations.

I think I would rather fix the A/C.  I would rather have a little less power, especially with the newer style compressors, and be comfortable on those hot summer days.

FWIW - :iagree:.  I understand the desire to have a clone car that matches up as closely as possible to an original, but in the end, it's a clone and the AC/non-AC will have minimal effect on the value of the vehicle.  Of course, you aren't doing this for value.  Just my  :2cents:

Here is the heater control I also have a non A/C dash pad it has a few cracks good for a core.
