Hood Springs
« on: April 21, 2008 - 11:31:02 AM »
Does anyone have any info on where I could purchase a new set of hood springs.  The ones on mine are weak, and it doesn't look too good to have it propped open with a stick.  All the ones in the catalogs are for the TA/AARs, and probably would not have enough tension to hold up my hood.  I dont really want to go the junkyard route because by now, i would assume most would be stretched.  Also, are they supposed to be painted the same color as the car.  Thanks in advance.

You could try Sylvain at SMS Restorations 800-989-6660
He may have some available.

Here is a recent thread regarding hood hinge restorations:

Hope that helps.

You could try B body hood springs, they should be heavier as they usually have heavier hoods.

Are XV hood hinges available to the public yet? They don't look too pretty but powder coated black would look fine and I'd say they'd do a better job than the factory ones.

I'm also curious about the XV billet hinges.  Has anyone used them before?  Any feedback?   Do they use springs or mini shocks?

I need two passenger side (would take a set) one for the 72, and one for the 73.

a friend gave me one, but darned if it fits, I think there is a suttle difference somewhere, the hood just will not lay flat
