Just came back from my dodge dealer.
« on: April 21, 2008 - 12:31:44 PM »
They had a big ad in our local paper, showing the new chally and saying "come in and order one today"

So I show up to their beautiful state of the art showroom and park illegalley right in front of their door.

I was just messing with them, told them I wanted to trade her in for a new one and asked how much cash, plus the new one they would give me.

They took pics and said they would call me later.

The ONLY deal I make is-
a new one for free, plus pay off my credit card for the resto (I still owe 30K), and pay off my mortgage (about 40K)
So I want a new one plus 70K.
I doubt if they would consider it but that's the only deal for me.

Here is a pic of the "dodge boys" posing with her.

Love that front hood molding - Love the whole car, but especially that. Was that an original option on your car ???

Nah, that was a special spring 1971 option.
I got the 3 piece set NOS on ebay, but it cost plenty.
However, the look is worth it.

I built the car the way I wanted it.
The spring 71 chrome molding option and the 70 r/t striping.

Thought I was the only one.  Though I really should pull the bumper in a bit, kinda looks like an underbite.

How does the moulding fit over the header panel?  Did you have to cut up the fiberglass to get it to fit?

Its a great look, wondering if anyone repops these....

H@ll no.  :grinno:  That's why some people pay dearly for the molding when they find it.  :22yikes:

No cutting at all.
They pulled off the old "lip" and put on the 3 pieces.
Fit like a glove.

And Mike is right-
no repops, though I don't know why, seems to me they would sell great.
And Mike is right on about the price.
The buy it now was 3500.
I think I paid 2100- "best offer"

1200 is a great price to pay
why do they call it the shelby molding,
I never heard it referred to as that.

The seller obviously did not have a clue of what they were selling.  It is a wide hood moulding and wide fender mouldings found on 71 Challengers only.  Not many around, hence the $1200 price tag. :2thumbs:

Remind me to put a bunch of those on my shopping list next to the Microsoft stock once I get the flux capacitor on my Delorean fixed.
