For most enthusiasts the engine, trans and rear are the most important pieces and DO constitute a numbers matching car for all intents and purposes. Who gives a rats ass if the power steering pump is not original or date coded. For the top tier car restorations that might mean something but to me it just means a guy went the extra mile during his restoration. To be commended for sure but you will never see me at a show docking some guy because his voltage regulator was built 20 years after his car. I like to enjoy each car for what it is. They are all labors of love and if someone has a car that is inbetween platinum and daily driver who am I to knock it? If someone is bragging that their car is numbers matching then I say cool, good for them, let them enjoy that important fact. If someone has a 440 in a 73 'Cuda then I say cool, good for them, let them enjoy that also. Nothing worse than a guy kicking isht all over your car because it is not what HE thinks it should be. People who knit pick someone elses ride just need the middle finger salute imo.
