Thanks!! I agree, I would rather enjoy the car then go 100% correct. I just figured with how original yours looked, it may have been a factory thing.

Installing the T/A stripes from Challenger Gary! ( Thanks again!) and undercoating the rear wheel wells, painting the chassis. Gotta get things moving for Carlisle! :2thumbs:

Just got back from my buddies place where we tore down the trans and found nothing wrong, think I destroyed another torque converter.Oh well I had a new aftermarket converter waiting to be installed anyway so I am headed back out to the garage to install them in a few minutes and I hope to have it ready to go up to a local show tomorrow.

I rebuilt my driverside door hinges, it was easier than i thought, except getting the bolts in and out..... :pullinghair: The door no longer sags when you open it.  :jumping:

I also worked on the front fender and got it linned up with the door better. After lunch, I need to find out why the air conditioning vents keep falling down.

Over the last few weekends got the shop to the point where we could get the cars in and have some space to do a little work.  Lots of little stuff.
Finally put on the stripes we got from Challenger Gary.  Went really well, I was afraid I would mess it up.
Took off my worn & pitted chrome mirrors and replaced them with a pair I ground down, filled & painted.  Not perfect but it looks better and will do the job until I get the others rechromed.
Put in the tach I've had for months.  Was tightening up the connection on the coil and Snap...broke the bolt!!!
3 steps forward and 1 step back...Tomorrow I get a new coil.

I drove it about 100 miles from here in Poway through Ramona around the back country then back home.  It is running like a top and got thumbs ups and comments the whole way.

Thanks to you guys for helping me out and answering all my questions. I could not have doen it alone.    :)

Other than that I am in the planning stages with my 340 motor.  Since the 318 is running well, I think I will rebuild the front end and work onthe brakes next.  I still have a bunch of small details to work on as well.

took her out for the first time in 3 weeks to Homestead Speedway, to watch my nephew run hot laps with his 996 porsche. Its only 20 minutes from my house.
They had a few dozen cars from different clubs and motorsports companies paying for use of the track.Saw my first ZR1...impressive looking, especially with that transparent hood bubble thingy.
My nephew specializes in e85 nowadays, having converted numerous cars to the stuff. His 996 was the fastest on the track, blowing by even the zr1 and anything else that was there. Lots of hopped up shelby stuff and lots of other porsches too. He did the standing mile at Dade Collier airport (in the middle of the florida everglades) last month at 202 mph.
His was not only the quietest car on the track, he was running it with the a/c on full blast!
Incredible street car!!
