looks like its time to rebuild my front end.  :working:

went driving around today, and noticed at slow speed, like rolling up to a light, the front end wags back and forth a bit, not severe, but you see it.
and sometimes, when cruising 40 - 50 the front end vibrates slightly. i can feel it in the wheel slightly as well. looks like i got a " shaker" hood, 'cept its all of it! its more prominent on the drivers side as far as i can tell. tires arent wearing wierd either.
im leaning toward ball joints. bearings are new, and i did new inner and outer ends.
i dont have a front sway bar, and i want to put one on., but then i have to find some lowers c/arms to take one right?

woo hoo, lets get this year rolling!!

Is it a rall eye car? Maybe the sway bars were std. on them or just 360 cars in 74?

We have some decent weather going on recently. So today I started applying plastic filler on areas on the underside wherever any small dents are. Then get it all ready for it's second coat of Epoxy primer.

When I was young, I didn't know how to put jacks correctly and lift the car properly.  :misbehaving:

Had the exact same thing pop up on my 74 during the TBT Cruise in 08.  Big "maypop" appeared on the L/F tire.  It was only 29 years old w/less than 20K miles on it.  Check your tires, sounds like a slipped belt or tread seperation.

When I was in the tire business we ajusted a few "newer" ones too.  Can't hurt to check before replacing a lot of suspension parts unless they're old with a lot of miles on them anyway.  Those will cause pulling and wandering.  Consistent vibration and shaking is 95% tire related.

UPDATE:

(play unsolved mysteries music here)

what i was experiancing was intermittant failure of the drivers side upper ball joint!!!

i checked it twice yesterday on the lift and it wasnt really moving, i just went out to check wheel runout, and the suckers flopping around like a 90 year old hookers chest!!

dont ask me how i know that either.
