Cut out the passenger side fender and today rolling out a new panel on the English wheel. The second side sure went much quicker than the first! :2thumbs:

I soaked them in a mix of 50/50% muriatic acid and water.
Make sure you use eye protection and rubber gloves. Outside!
Read all the precautions! It's nasty stuff, you don't want to breathe the fumes either.

You should be able to get a gallon at your local hardware store for about $6 or $7 bucks.
Choose a container that your parts will fit easily. I used an empty plastic Costco cashew jar. Add your 50% water first then the acid.
I only used about 16 ounces, just enough to cover the parts.
I keep a small bucket with baking soda and water handy for neutralizing the acid on the parts when I take them out.
Light rust and oxidation will dissolve quickly. Be careful not to leave in too long or it will eat the good metal too!
Rinse well with fresh water. Then I dry them and blow them off with an air compressor. I wiped them down with acetone but you could use lacquer thinner too, then I sprayed them with VHT clear caliper paint.

I did an ashtray too and painted it SEM Landau Black.
If you do an ashtray don't leave the handle on it will dissolve... :scared:

Installing the pedal side of the hydraulic clutch and making a firewall reinforcement plate to stop the clutch piston bending the firewall out so much.

Good news:
Engine lifter noise is alot quiter now after re adjusting the valves again.
Adjusting solid lifters is something my friend Dave today showed me how to do the right way.

I had mine too loose by a few thousandths. This is harder to get "the right feel" than I imagined.
Also re jetted and meter rods put in. Adlusted to the .100 on the chart.
I cured the ignition yellow wire not connecting to relay. Now it starts by key. It was being intermittent.

Main issues left:

Engine dies out just under 1200 RPM. No indication of a vacuum leak. Guage read steady.
Wiper motor has no action. Ground or switch
Clock was working. Now it stopped.
Steering Federal pump doesn't seem to be assisting. I won't know for sure until I drive it.

Monday I make a decision to take to De Anza show or not.

I'm having idle problem now even after re jetting and upping the meter rods.
Stumbles just under 1300 rpms. No Vac leaks.

I think it's timimg left. I'm at 15 degrees before right now.
.585 lift, 250 dur.
