I have restored worse. that isnt a parts car from what i see. i would restore that no problem. they remake all the parts to fix. 6k seems fair in my mind. in ontario that car would easily sell for 8-10k in my opinion....

You can also see from the pics that the c-pillars are also long gone although those are pretty easy to do from a sheet metal if the whole roof skin & quarters are removed. Anyway it seems to be a complete car which in my opinion is a very big plus. Mine was/is missing some many small detail items that it's driving me crazy.

Whats the difference if you have to replace everything that is there, or everything that is not there? lol

My 70-318 Challenger was pretty much complete-just missing the hard to find pieces like lower dash pieces, two seat belts and the like. It had some minimal rust so I ended up replacing the quarters, deck lid trunk and floor pans. I could of patched them but did it right. So yes the car is complete, but your looking at 4-6k in metal and 10-15 for paint.

On second glance I like the fact that it has the original interior which means you will most likely find a build sheet or 3 for the car and it has the data tag on the fender. Will take some TLC but it does look to be a keeper if the price is right. Yeah its only a 318 car but its a nice color combo and would make a cool cruiser. Would certainly be nicer if it had air conditioning but oh well.

Barry knows where the build sheet is for the car, its not with it. For what its worth, she turned down 3,000 bucks and we bought a $650 mustang to play with for the time being. She'll rot futher for a bit i guess, we couldnt get down and look at the frame due to the grass it was in, but the humidity in florida and the moisture from the grass, i'd bet that frame is in trouble too

It'd be a great cruiser, the rust is what scares me, the roof even more so..also the frame being in question?

Goody you never know about the frames in FL.  Most of the time they are good and the top part of the car rusts out first.  The humidity forms condensation on the inside of the pillers and the cars rust from the inside out.  $3000 is too high but it is in the ballpark.  Stop by and talk to her occasionally and she will come down.  I would give her a few weeks and then go back and ask to see the frame. In another 3 weeks maybe you can come up with another excuse to see the car.

I'd agree with that, but $3k is still pushin it like you said on price. We're not that crazy about it given neither one of us can actually do the metal work. If we could, that'd be another story. We have the mustang now as our project anyhow, no room for another!

There ya go..... get that Mustang running, sell it and get the Challenger  I bet the top is the worst of it. Vinyl top cars really take a beating on rust. The longer the original top is on it the worse the rust will be. I got lucky that someone stripped my cars top off fairly young in its life. I am hoping that with proper prep it will live a long life with the vinyl top back on it.

From what I have seen in your posts I am pretty sure you would not have trouble picking up on the metal work.  It is not always as hard as it looks. I forget exactly where you live.  I am in West Palm Beach, 2 hours south of Orlando.

I'm about 30mins north of orlando, closest i've ever done to welding is soldering...thats not even close! 

I am however going to try and get a few quick lessons from a local mopar guy. Enough to attempt to replace the front floors in the mustang. Think that would be a good start out project.

Floors will be a good place to learn. If you make a mistake seam sealer or the carpet will cover it. You will find it is just glueing metal together with a welder. I know this oversimplifies it but it just takse practice. I am sure you will be fine.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. My computer crashed and I lost my password. I am waiting for Ross to give another one to me so I can just be Challenger6pak again. I may be parting a car that has a usable roof. I am going to do a WIW thread. I hate to part it but with values the way they are it is probably the way the car will bring the most money.
