Gas prices and our beloved cars.
« on: May 01, 2008 - 07:58:32 AM »
I don't remember if someone has asked this before so here goes. How many of you are planning on cutting back on road trips with your muscle cars? We have been talking about it and have decided to cut back. We are not planning any long trips this summer. We did plan on a trip with the T/A to go to the Black Hills Mopar show in SD but we scraped that trip. The only one we plan on is a fun run and weekend about 75 miles away that we like to drive the RR to.

What's your thoughts?

I drive as normal, love my car and can't do jack about the prices. You guys should count yourselfs lucky, we pay over twice what you pay, if anyone should be crying = it's us! You must pay around $2.90 a gallon? Try $7.15!! I'll drive no matter what the pump reads. It sucks but I can cut back on other things, even booze to drive my Mopar.

No matter the cost, there my everyday driver and only car. (Magnum w/a 400 B  block and 3.55's)
Your claim of paying so much more is a normal high price or is it the resulot of the recent balogna going on i the world. See it from my stand point. No matter the cost we pay, prices in my area have tripled from the normal price.

I wish I paid $3.50 a gallon. I'm @ $4.00+ now. If I allways paid $7.** a gallon, then it would be normal and wouldn't hurt. It would just be normal and allways what it was. If it tripled from $7 to $21...........YIKES!

Here in Canada we are in the $5.00 range per US gallon and climbing.  It won't stop me from driving my beasts.   :canada:

The price of gas isn't stopping me from driving my classic Mopars this summer, being 250 miles from them is.

I never drive mine too far anyway, so I will continue to drive it as usual.  If I slow down the driving, it won't be because of fuel costs. I love burning my share of dead dinosaurs.....     :burnout:     :2thumbs:

I drive mine at least once a week.  I think about the gas prices but then again I don't.  There's nothing I can do about it other than getting mad.  I spent many years with my car in storage and now I am making up for it.

In the past couple years the cuda has gone from daily summer driver to once a week if I'm lucky.
I just don't have the funds right now to daily drive it...  :(

The gas here is at a $4.00 or the disguise lower price of $3.99.9, I drive my car on weekends ,lucky for me the two events (Saturdays morning and afternoon) are only few miles from my home.

Hehe.  I just upgraded from a 273 to a 383 for daily driver use.  It's gonna hurt my wallet pretty good.  Probably won't cut back on driving to shows, since the furthest away I usually go is about 50 or so miles away.  Might hit a show over in Lincoln this year, though.  Was hoping to go to Carlisle this year (I know, I've said that for the past 3 years) but once again, I don't think a trip that far is in the budget.

I'll sitll use the cars locally but for my part of the country we have to go 250 miles one way to get to the real fun.
They have a cruise night and some small shows here. Like I said the real fun shows and at lease 250 miles in either direction. The long distance ones are what we are cutting down on.

The rising price of gas doesnt bother me, because I always just put $20 in.
