Denso Alt conversion

does anyone know if the alt shaft is the same diameter as the factory alt so the serpentine pulley can be swapped onto the Denso?

that denso alternator would have a 17mm shaft but im not sure what pulley you want to put on there?

we have a billet serpentine pulley on the factory alt & wan to get an alt with more amperage output

i got to looking through my books today.  the alternator off say a 73 would look like this. http://198.208.187.182/internet/PartImage.jsp?mfgname=ACDELCO&prodlinecd=33&acpartnbr=334-2212  it uses a 203ff bearing which is a 17mm bore just like the later model denso.

I don't know if this helps or not CP but I had to go to a Denso 130 amp alternator to get good voltage at idle.  It seems that some alternators do not put out at low rpms which doesn't help if you are running an electric cooling fan and an electric fuel pump.  Unfortunately this alternator is big and required custom brackets to mount to my Eddy heads.

this is exactly what I am looking at , we are running t electric fans , 2 electric fuel pumps , 1 electric water pump & an EFI computer all off 65 amp stock alt with a serpentine belt system ,need to find a way to solve this without losing the serp system

Another option is to upgrade the alternator to put out more power.  This is an excellent article about how to do it.

no problem, let me know if you need any help.  I did one once, came out fairly well. 

I would also like to eventually upgrade to a denso, much smaller, less rotating mass, less hp loss.

I have the March Performance serp. setup and don't know if it will work either.  So I took my stock 65 amp and got the kit and redid mine for the 71.  I have yet to move the car or go anywhere with it, so I have no idea how well it works.
