Thanks.  I don't think I'll ever do one that rusty again. At least I know what is under the paint on this one.

Here it is at a car show on Friday. It was 95 degrees in HUMID St. Louis.  I have to charge up the A/C then I can leave the top closed till it cools down here.  What are the chances of 2 71 convertibles being 2 cars away from each other?  They only made less that 2200 71 verts.

First- Congratulations on becoming a granddad, raise him into the Mopar family. :clapping:
Second, thank you for sharing the Chally Indy Pace car build!  Everyone on the site knows that you went through many tribulations during the eBay car to the beautiful pace car conversion.   The last segment of posts showing the convertible install make me happy that I have a hardtop. The white “blackout” on the hood looks awesome – it defiantly belongs.
And, yes, you are correct; most people have no clue that there ever was a Challenger pace car.  Again, thanks foe posting.  Your project, along with others here, keeps me inspired to go out to the garage and do some work.

Thanks

She was our Gateway International Racetrack 1993 Jr. Dragster points winner.  She was also in Car Craft Magazine in an article about Jr. Racers.  She was 14. She is 30 now.  I had both my kids in Jr. Dragsters and they loved racing.

Thanks again everyone that followed along. I'm locking this one down as done and will update if anything special happens with the car. There are still a few things I want to do, such as power relays to speed up all 4 power window motors and a relay pack for the blower motor to keep the high current demand out of the switch panel.  These projects are never really done. There is always something else to do.

I decided to drive it the 700 miles from St. Louis to Detroit and Cruise the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise to show off my new wheels. This pic was taken August 21, 2011.  Many were asking if this was the "real one" As in the pace car that paced the race. One guy asked if it was Eldon Palmer's car.  I heard one guy, walk up with his kid and say, "this car is worth a lot of money!" Cameras were popping everywhere, like a very very special car was out for a drive and may not be seen again.  What a great feeling that is.

That is my friend Tim, standing in the back. He has a 70 440-6PK purple Challenger but it was too hot to cruise if you weren't in a CONVERTIBLE!

This isn't my picture. I'm in the car driving. I'm crediting this guy for getting the picture.

This is a cute Polish girl that liked my car, so I put her in it to get a pic.

I drove it Indiananpolis, Indiana for Monster Mopar Weekend  and was able to pace some of the Winged Warriors club on the ctircle track.

I was wearing my video sunglasses the whole time and got some good video that I'll post soon.
