    I have a set of 15x10s Rallyes with 295-50s, that I bought from HANEY (Jamie) in the for sale section. I'll probably use those for the Muscle look. Those wire hubcaps are a rare option that only came on 14" wheels. Right now, I have 2 flat hoods and a T/A hood, but would love another Rallye hood for it.

    I spent a couple of hours today cutting out the left floor. I'm leaving the hump and linkage for now, because I might try to mock up the 518 and figure out the slap-stick linkage problem that has never been answered, If I put in a 4-speed later and not use the 518, at least I'll have a "how-to 518 an e-body" for this site.

    Rob looks like not much of the floor was good. I like the idea of a overdrive and FI and it should get pretty good gas mileage.

    Tonight, I took the whole passenger  floor and the windshield out. I had a roll of windshield wire from Harbor Freight. so it was easy pulling it out after using a grinder and cut-off wheel on the thick, hard-as-a-rock, urethane. The heat dug a trench and softened it up so pulling the wire was easy. I've used regular wire before but this braided windshield wire was worth the few dollars that I paid for it.


    I included a picture of the slap-stik linkage for the 518 project.  The part that the others are having problems with is this vertical bar. When the new fatter 518 case is installed, It's width takes up this space where the bar is.   I don't see it as a problem.  I have a welder and I can make just about anything.

     :2thumbs: I was going to mock up my 518 the same way with the floor out But I got lazy and went to a 833 4spd!I was thinking if the trans didn't fit through the cross member I was going to from and weld some 1/4 steel on the hump of the cross member so if I had to trim some of the under side it wouldn't lose any strength.

    I'm done with the 518 mock up and it works.  See the pics in the trans and drivetrain section under Carlwaski's 518 thread.   I pulled the dash and cleaned out the winshield sealer.  This thing must have leaked lots. the channel around the winshield was full of rock hard urethane. I took a buch of pics of the cowl rot holes. There may be more on the heater side.

    Pulled the dash and everything in the engine compartment except the engine.  I'm waiting for the weekend to get my trailer and friend's cherry picker to pull it. Today I took an old bed's frame apart and used the metal to make the door struts to keep my body stiff when I turn it over. Here are some pics. I'm welding the front mount to the windshield area and bolting it to the holes that the convertible top's frame bolts. It should be stronger than the bar others use to attach the top hinge to the door latch striker. Mine allows the door be put back on and close.

    I think my way would add more strength than uscartools brace, in the pic below.  Mine is an angle instead of just a strap and higher up. I can still crawl through the hole too. Anything is still better than nothing.  A friend of mine just did his Vert metalwork on a rotissery and didn't have one on at all.  He welded his frame connectors on when the car was upside down too.  He thinks that if it isn't right, then he will have to take it somewhere to have it "bent".
