I purchased my 71 convertible challenger about 18 months ago. It was in rough shape so I took it to Zydeco Auto restification; which happened to have recently opened near my home town in Jackson, MO. Well instead of cruising last summer I watched as the car was completely torn down and blasted to bare metal. When I last saw the car it was up on the rotisserie getting new floor panels put in, then I deployed to Afghistan. I told the owner that there was no need to finish too fast as I would be deployed for 15 months and I wasn't going to let the wife inspect the car and take it for its first drive. Well, Zydeco decides to go out of business. I was lucky enough to have a friend and a couple brothers-in-law nearby to go pick up the car and pull it out. Too bad they waited until the "official" day to pull everything out as the place was broken into and any new parts lying around (a couple trailer loads apparently) were taken. One guy said that there were many year one boxes by my car when he last saw it. Now, these three guys had to haul off a car or should I say a car of parts. The body was still on the rotisserie. Since they had no way to move it they just took the whole rotisserie and said they would get it back eventually. I suppose I got back 90% of the car. Anyone know a good resto shop near Southeast MO? You can't make this stuff up.
