340 steel cranks are internally balanced & do not have a weight on the converter so if it has one remove it , if the 340 is a cast crank you need a weight on the converter

Nothing wrong with a good 904, in fact they much lighter and are about .15 quicker at the track. Also you can find a low gear set in the junker very cheap. 727 low gears are pricey.. Valve bodies are the same in both units...
I wouldn't worry about breaking it because alot of Stock Eliminator guys and bracket racers been using them for years.
Big Block guys don't have that option they have to use the big trans..
Both are great transmissions....

When I asked about installing a 727,I didn't know you already had the 904 rebuilt. Get the right converter for the right engine, make sure your throttle pressure (kickdown) is adjusted right and you should be fine.

No :grinno:

I suggest you post a picture of the crank even if it is sitting in a block, just take the sump off.   :picture: :2thumbs:

They could have used the 318 balancer for a nuetral balance if it was done right.

Here is a good pic to show the difference on the crank itself. (big blocks and small blocks basically the same)

To post pics, reply, then below the box where you type the message, click "Additional Options."  There will be an option to attach files with a browse button.  Browse to the folder on your computer that has the photos and click the one you want.  By clicking "more attachments", you can add up to ten.

There's a way to add photos that you have online at another site, like Photobucket or Flickr, but I'm not sure how that's done.  Someone else can instruct us both on that.
