Got a bad memory
« on: May 08, 2008 - 10:34:08 PM »
I know of atleast a dozen members are waiting for me to get home to ship them some parts, I have a few addresses in my pm box, but if there is anyone waiting for some stuff from me, would you please hit my email button.  I have Barry, jackie, doug, ja, and brices address already, but there are a bunch more members waiting for things. PLEASE remind me of the part and where to ship. If you owe me money, I will have to ship right away since I only have like 10 business days to work with.  So I will collect later.

The overseas people please list it exactly how it needs to read on a box. The stuff is hard to track and I always bite my fingers waiting for a response back saying you got it. I will have a lot on my plate when I get home and dont want to let anyone down.  Kenny, I have yer address too.

I have 2 more days of 600 to 700 degree temps to put up with. It will take me 2 weeks to heal up from all the bubbled up burns I aquired on this job. I also think I cooked my right kidney, so I may be at a doctors office for a couple of days. The wife is twisting my arm to go. But I am ok. I drink 2 cases of dasani water a day by myself and have been wrapping myself up with a fire blanket when I can.   It is very hot and I cant get anyone to hang with me up there and work with me to pass the time quicker. 3 hrs up and 15 minutes in the ac 12 hrs a day.

Send me yer address so I can make just one or 2 trips to town..Thanks guys :2thumbs:

Hey, I'm ok. Not all the jobs are this hot. The next one is though. Its a delaquer drum at an aluminum plant. It melts cans and stuff you sell for scrap and burns the paint and stuff off of. That shell is 1200 degrees. The job wont be but a week or so long. No robots for this work.  I  do have other trade skills I could be doing, but I am getting old now and vested in this company. Other jobs are hard to find. The pay is ok, I can just about make what I want to earn. It goes as high as 180k a year, but I'd be worn out to a nub. I like the challenge. Even the plants dont have a clue as to what I do, they just see the results is all. They cant stop these big units. They are the life of the companys. Many make 2 mil a day, so they wont stop. Besides they have to be up and running to fix them. The unit I am on but not after today is 1000 tons and 500 ft long. 3000 degrees inside and 750 outside today.  Tomorrow, I spend a couple hrs there checking my work, drop my helper off at the airport and skiddale my but to the house.
Now I have to find the energy to pull my trans and replace the clutch , then reseal the trans, put on some emblems and chrome and stuff, maybe make me a big driveways, and also dig a storm shelter for tornado weather. That is all on my list, besides yard keep and honey do's of course.

I grind all the wheels on the kilns. Easier said then done. For a month I have been 70 ft in the air in a basket with a 3k lb grinding machine I had a crane put it up there for me.

But I whooped it's but. :woo: I think I have enogh in my investments to maybe relax a bit and open my speed shop around the house, and to get chryco to help me run it.

Sorry about the long chat.

I like your plan Alan... Speed shops are a lot of fun. I had a buddy with one just so he could buy race car parts cheap.

Do you think you will cut back first or retire all together?

And listen to the wife she whants you around as we all do.  :angelwings:

Nice to read more about what you do Alan. I am glad you are at a point that you can slow down, sounds like very hot, unhealthy work. I know you are a great mechanic but there is no way you could make a living in a speed shop. YOU GIVE TOO MUCH STUFF AWAY!!!!!!!!!! lol. Sounds like a great plan, hope you make it a reality soon. Would be great to steal CP away from the Canukians too
