Fresh off a dyno... cleaned upp RPM heads...

4.350 bore
4.150 stroke
6.76 rod
Flat top piston 4.8cc .005 in the hole
11:1 CR
84cc Edelbrock heads
Comp hyd roller 242/248 @ 050 549/544 on a 110LSA
Edelbrock Torquer II and a Mighty Demon 850

Only 28* Timing

The peak torque was 638 at 4700 and peak hp was 597 at 5100

Sweet! I bet that has excellent throttle response and a super flat torque curve! Perfect for Street/Strip! I am thinking about those hydraulic rollers Stroker but will most likely use solid flat tappets, possibly Shubecks if available if not, then oil through solids like the Howards or Hughes Lifters. BTW, was 28 degrees optimal?

It was a combo I pulled of Moparts... I know there are a few members here gonna be building 500 inchers soon ....   :2thumbs:

Yes! I'm kinda 'hung up' on the intake manifold. Since it will be only flowing air in my application, I'm leaning towards the Victor 383. It flows plenty of air and will make great H.P. The Eddies RPM 440 is a nice choice but I think it will be a 'restriction' at 4000 on up with 500" especially a big bore ,(4.375), nice stroke,(4.150), short lightweight piston,(1.220), so it should rev very quick and it will need a good induction to make higher RPM power. I really wish INDY would make a low deck 400/383-3 dual plane. That 440 dual plane they have can outflow the Victor series according to published data from AR Engineering.(Jan 2007 pp. 22). It was a very good and scientifically done article about intake flow through the manifold only. It shouldnt be used as an absolute guide due to the abscence of firing pulses the engine sees while running but it does establish a baseline for intake flow development and was very interesting and eye opening! Especially the fact that their dual plane can outflow the Victor 440!

I'm also a little hesitant about hydraulic roller lifters. Dont get me wrong I love em it's just that I keep hearing from Pro-Engine builders,(I ask a lot of questions), about their usage and heres what I have found out. They like the street usage of them but they are much too heavy for higher RPM's, what those are RPM's are is dependent on the valve springs. It seems most builders I have spoken with regard this RPM as about 5500-5900. Is this your experience? I am talking about pump up or the fact the hydraulic circuit cant keep up with the engines speed at elevated spring pressures and RPM's. You can however use a radical profile due to the lobes nose. It's much fatter on a roller cam, thus allowing a fast and long duration opening rate for the intake allowing in much more air and fuel. I would love to use one but am afraid that with my cam selection and spring pressures it just wont 'cut it' at 5500 on up. Any experience in your usage would be appreciated. Thanks, Eddie :thumbsup:

Thanks Stroker, I have no experience with solid rollers. I assume they have to be replaced every so often with those spring pressures? I've also heard that once you go roller you wont want another type of cam/lifter combo! :thumbsup:

jason i think hes saying stuff like resurface,and maybe did a valve job..thats the way im taking it..
