On the fence - "Carbon Fiber" Interior Accents
« on: May 09, 2008 - 06:53:06 PM »
Played around with a roll of the stuff of ebay. Stuff is just paper thin so its a little tricky to work with. I'm not sure if I like the console insert or not, that was my first test. I can get it a lot smoother if i do it again, I think i'll drive around with it as is and see how i like it. The window crank you can get a better idea of what it actually looks like since it 'photos' wierd.

Just playin around with it, its nothing permanent that I can't get rid of if i dont like it.  :clueless:

What do you think? Little different look to things, has no place in a 'stock' car if you ask me. I think I have enough changes to where it may fit in, just the woodgrain in there doesn't go with anything but the shifter handle, but it does break things up.

You know how I feel.LOL

A little heat will help it lay too.

I have seen on The Dodge Challenger Message Board Dave R(member here as well) used some real CF and it looks sweet!

I agree that for a "stock" type rest the no go but it is also something that can be switched back with a few screws.

And it is tough to photograph.

I think i'll probably try the console plate again tonight since i always seem to do stuff better the second time lol

I think i can get it to 'fit in', i need to paint the speaker covers black, may even cover the MSD box with the carbon fiber stuff if i get bored enough!  :2thumbs:

Sweet, Hey a bit OT but how is your Tach mounted?  Is it on the bottom of the dash or the console, I'm going to add one soon, I've been looking at the dashtop mount on from the Car farm for 55 bucks but it is right up in your face a bit too much.  Just thinking out loud.LOL

Its bolted to the dash frame. I'd like to lean twords either a smaller tach up on the column (3" or less), or just get a shift-lite on the column. Someday

Probably cleans it up a little but although the woodgrain isn't the best piece I still love it.
Breaks it up and when you're in the car it reminds you of what you're driving, a 70s muscle car. :2cents:

It definately goes better with the rallye cluster and the challenger woodgrain door panels. However in my car, its really the only "wood" in there which is why i'm considering. Beautiful interior btw

I think it looks good, Goody.  It seems like it blends in more with the car's interior a little better when there aren't other woodgrain overlays used throughout like Challengers do.

Hey Goody!  I think it looks great with your interior.  I bet you saved yourself a lot of hassle by mentioning that you wouldn't want to do it on a stock ebody, lol.  Smart move there, lol!  :smilielol:

I think it would look better if you did a couple more things to tie it all together.  For example the gauge cluster and the shifter handle.  The way you have it now the woodgrain shifter looks out of place.  IMO.
