Uh oh, a Mustang followed us home today
« on: May 10, 2008 - 01:44:10 PM »
$650 for a 289 Mustang, not the V8 Abody we were hoping to tinker with...but for the price, it was hard to pass up. Came with a new repop hood, front and rear valances.

Looks cool, Mike!  Can't beat it for that price!

How complete is it?  Hood/drivetrain/etc...? Looks to be very solid from the pic.

Is a southern car?  I just remember a friend of mine years ago getting a '60 something coupe from New Hampshire. and trying to adjust the alignment on the strut rods to play with the caster and it wouldn't come in spec because the front support the strut rod went in to was rotted out.

Would be cool to get a 5.0L/ 5 speed setup and stuff it in there but make it look stock on the outside.

Good score!

Well Dad bought it, I'll do the body work i can, get the drivetrain goin and such. Probably get it running and in a stage of primer and see if we can make a few bucks off of it. It'd really help since with the new school starting soon my time to work will drop dramatically and having a big move coming up.

Body is very complete, came with a brand new hood and valances, grille is in good condition, interior is pretty complete, needs some trim work and such. But there isn't anything you cant buy for a 1968 Mustang though. It does have some rust spots here and there. Looks like it could all be patched fairly easy vs replacing entire panels.

Good buy and with a little work you should be able to flip it and make a few bucks. -perfect use of a Ford!  :smilielol:   I do admit to having a soft spot for Mustangs though, either a 69-70 Mach 1 or Boss 302 or a `68 fastback please.

For that price, I 'suppose' you could justify purchasing a Mustang.  It seems like a very good buy and should be a perfect way to flip it for some extra $$. :2thumbs:

Welp we got into the engine, looks like it sat outside a bit longer than they claimed. Shouldn't take too much trouble to get it back up and running, new head gasket and have the heads hot tanked its lookn like

Not bad for the price, even if it is a Ferd, LOL.  Don't ya wish ebods would sell at that price?  I know I would have a dozen or two.

I could only imagine. Even a v8 duster/dart/etc would be tons of fun for that price. The cost of some of the mustang parts needed are almost laughable because they are so 'cheap' in comparison.
