BP VIN (Gran Coupe) orig 318 now 340 , worth how much????
« on: May 12, 2008 - 10:27:15 AM »
Hi guys, I know, I know my user name will have to change as soon as I buiy my first cuda. I just sold my Ford Toino GT 71 and caught cuda fever here in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There's a 71 cuda VIN BP (Gran coupe) originally 318 now 340 for sale near my place. it's an automatic pistol grip, black interior , sassy grass green color, 2006 paint , very nice. The merchant is asking 49,900. I consider the car to be in good condition overall, no crackks in the dash , no rips in the seats, paint is great etc... All I see on ebay is 80K or more. Is 49K a good price for such a car??? It is a 71 after all and the merchatn bought it for 44K at auction last year in Toronto. I need your advice! Here is the link to some pictures.

It does look like a nice car but it is a clone and 50k is a lot in todays market, if you look around alittle im sure you could find a real bs in the mid 50's.

50k is way to much for a small block clone. When he paid 44k for it that was too much in my opinion. Being that it doesn't have a shaker hood and the trunk jam is painted incorrectly I would say tops the car is worth 40k

Is that Canadian dollars or American dollars?

In American dollars that is too high.  I bought a really nice matching numbers real 1971 Cuda last year for $50K.  Prices are down right now.  People asking $80K for small block Cudas aren't selling their cars.  If you have 50K to spend, get a real Cuda.  If you want a clone, you can get one for less.  Go check out Cudaworld.com.  There are some more reasonably priced real Cudas and clones there right now.

the car looks good a couple thoughts . is the underside finished out is the car a make over  or a ground up  thats what separates the ok cars from the great ones . also if you buy a numbers car the only ones worth extra money  would need these things to be a match . the whole damn car i mean all of it a survivor .if its been restored its not a match but a car with very little left but maybe a block with other insides ,a trans match maybe  and what about the door decal with vin if that has been replaced its not a match if the qtrs or any sheet metal has been replaced its not a match . i have made a killing over the years on over 250+ cars i never chase a match i buy the nonmatch at a lower price usualy 5 percent but always buy the best built car you can aford i say this because many cars are restamps but a rust free car is gold i only buy cold air hood or multi carb or 4 speed cars if you can have at least one of these options your in good company ,a well done resto mod has no price guide thats why they do so well at resale . also lets say you buy a non match 440 car for a little less when you sell it its easier to sell with no liability to its pedigre this has done well for me .good luck show us what you buy

You guys are gonna kill me I am sure but I found my gaze being drawn to the vert 442. I wish people would just restore some cars. How many 71 Gran Coupes have any of us seen?

What's vert 442?
And Jeffaary, those links you give.
Their all cars in need of some resto though.
The one I'm talking about doesn't .... unless you want a perfect rotissery to garage keep.
aaah! I still don't know what to do.
I have to take under consideration the fact buying a cuda in the states will cost me customs and tax$$

The "vert 442" bb71 is referring to is the white convertible ("vert") Olds 442 parked next to the green Barracuda in your link - see picture #13.
