more new pics....T/A hood and subframe connectors
« on: May 12, 2008 - 10:09:15 PM »
Here are some pics of my ride. I just installed the T/A hood prior to block sanding. I also bolted up the subframe conectors but I had to modify the rear torque boxes before I weld them in. If you noticed, I mad ethe custom rear part of hte brace so that it the transition into the rear frame was better. They originally were boxed off at the end and looked horrible. I would have gone with the XV frame rails but I heard too many horror stories.

Looks good, is the hood an original part?

No, it is an aftermarket. It fits ok, I wouldn't say great but ok. I have a hood gap problem that I am hoping to overcome tomorrow morning.

Who's the vendor, how's the underside finish.  I have an original and it doesn't fit very good either.

I am not sure who made it as I bought it used. I got a really good deal on it because the right corner was busted off.  All i had to do was a little fiberglass work, but I got the hood for $200.  It fits good up front, but along the side hood edges, it has sunk down below the fender lips approx, 1". The rear points stick up a bit on the left too. I have tried to adjust it using the hood hinges but can't get it to sit down any further, without denting the cowl. The side I repaired looks even better than the original side..... :woo:  My buddy has the same problem with his fiberglass hood. I was contimplating just going with the rally hood, but I really like the looks of the T/A hood, plus it would not go with my theme of the car.......the 1971 T/A Challenger.

I also got my torque boxes and subframe connectors welded in yesterday. this car should not sway with all that plus the 1 1/8" sway bars on the front and rear.
