Bad Day for me updated
« on: May 16, 2008 - 05:07:46 PM »
Well I went to fine to my carb and take it out for spin. The car was running good and right as I stepped on the gas my hood flew back and on the windshield. I had forgotten to put the pins in before I left. The top doesn't look bad at all but there are a couple scrapes in the back corners. The bracket mount on the left ripped off and the right part delaminated from the bracket. So now I'm trying to find a place to paint my original flat hood and put it back on. I think I can also take the hood springs and brackets off the fiberglass hood and put two more hood pins in the back. I think I may try that first since it woud be a quick fix.

I just picked up the car and the flat hood looks great. I'd post pics but I ran over my camera and I'm in the process of having it replaced.

I think this happens more than you would think.  My T/A hood has 4 pins on it.  Someone must have had it blow off, the mounts for the hinges are ripped off.

I hear ya bud....sometimes we get in such a groove that we forget the small things.....hence the reason I hooked my battery charger up to my car in the dark....and backwards.....fried the whole wiring system..... :faint:

That really sucks.  I guess it just wasn't a great day for cars in general.  My daily driver Toyota Corolla lost all power while hitting rush hour traffic in Madison, WI while I was on my way home from college.  It was quite the experience that deserved a thread all of its own.

Oh man tha sucks!!!!!!! I had the same thing happen but it was in a 74 Ford F-150 4x4. I would have retched right then and there if it had happened to my Challenger  :puke:
Good luck on getting it back on the road.

well all in all it wasn't that  bad. On a positive note I was certified as a full professional air traffic controller after 2 1/2 years of training. Oh and my wife didn't freak out about me getting the old hood painted and I'm gonna try and get a new a/c system without her getting upset too.

LOL I like that attitude. Hit them hard for funds while they are in a weakened state. Embezzling from the family coffee can for parts is my favorite pastime.  :2thumbs:
