This is probably the last time this array of cars will ever be seen together, so I took my time an photographed them before they were either laid to scrap, or auctioned off to some eager beaver.
The parts auction is coming in the fall. They did have some decent Mopars at one time, but most of them burnt to the ground (long story, just search my previous posts and you will see.)

Here is the gallery of Bob's Auto Parts, located in Northbranch Michigan.

This particular car is a 1935 Chrysler Airflow. Talk about an odd find, Yes It has been picked pretty clean. It would still make a killer hot rod.

This is  astack of Challengers before the fire.

This one had me thinking... It was pretty complete, but  a bit damaged on the other side. Not too bad.

Kinda sickening to see Challengers and other Mopar iron in stacks. The only thing worse than that is seeing a stack of crushed Mopars heading off to the scrap yard  :sadwavey:
1971 Challenger (OO==== ====OO) getting close!
1970 Challenger (OO########OO) long ways off

All I found was they were trying to cut a roof off a Challenger for you and ended up burning 5 Challengers. Care to tell?

This one was completely engulfed in the flames, and more or less melted.

I think that only a door remains...http://www.pbase.com/dmz73/image/97194545

I will elaborate on the "roof story" a little later. Gotta run.

The roof story:

I toured the yard wanting to get a roof for my 73 Challenger. I was very familiar with the yard, and had struck up an amicable trust withthe owner of the yard. Not the friendliest guy in the world, but an interesting guy nonetheless.
We found a roof worthy of a cut-job, and made an agreement for purchase of $500. Kinda steep, what you pay is for proximity I figured. 1/2 down, 1/2 on pick-up.
The owner of the yard marked the cuts to be made, and told me that he would have it ready for pick up in 2 weeks. (He had a swap meet the next weekend)
No problem.
I gave it almost 2 weeks, calling on Thursday. I had a funny feeling because friends that live nearby said that they had a fire in the yard. So I called  to check in to confirm pick up on Saturday, just to ensure that everything was kosher.
I spoke with the owner and he told me that the guys who were cutting off the roof off the car started a fire. He told me that 5 cars burned up pretty bad, and I should have  a look.
When I arrived, I searched the yard with the owner, and we could not find the roof at first glance. Once he showed me the carnage of what was left of the cars I deduced that the roof was probably wasted as well. When we did find the roof, I apologetically and  calmly told him that the roof would no longer be worth my time. I wtold him I would be happy to see if there was something else in the yard that would be worth my money. We both came to an agreement and I continued "shopping"
Lo and behold, this is what I found < http://www.pbase.com/dmz73/image/78572842 > outta this 74 Cuda < http://www.pbase.com/dmz73/image/66437238 > for for $125...

These for $20 < http://www.pbase.com/dmz73/image/78417705 >

The rest I got back in cash.
I felt really bad becasue 5 Mopars wre ruined in the process, good parts on all ( Iwas going to be the guy stripping them for re-integration) The owner was fined, and he lost out on some good bussiness.
I know he felt just as bas, if not worse. He was fined by the Fire department, fined by the EPA, and lost some good business.

That's my story, and I am stickin' to it.

Glad to hear you rescued the dashpad! :clapping: :ylsuper: It deserves your car! Now did you by any chance save the 3-speaker wiring & other underdash parts or are these left for someone else, or are they just whethered? Send the VIN info. to Barry W. for the registry. :grinyes:

Well,
I forgot about the 3 speaker dash harness bit. It is most likely too late.

Some other time, some other place,
I have the VIN info on the car that burned and the  Cuda that donated it's Dash.

Don't get me wrong but these cars could not have been saved by any act of god.
They would have donated some decent parts...

now I have to find another yard to tour...

Dan, do you know of a person who lives in Lum and owns/uses an old corner garage ??  there is a black A-body outside and a Chally inside plus a few chargers I think in the "back lot". I was driving through there a few weeks back and spotted the Duster so I spun back around for a closer look only to see the Challenger inside.
