My Cuda has today a -741 non diff and 4,88. Very irritating to drive with. Now I bought a -742 suregrip 3,23 and would like to know
if the driveaxles will fit now?

They should swap just fine. Be sure the center pin is in the 742 so you can adjust your axles if useing the stock bearings.

If you look inside your 742, down where the axles go, you shouldnt be able to see through. There will be something blocking the way. This is good
Unless you have the non adjusting bearings on your axles that were called the green bearings, then it would come out. Your axles should have 30 splines and the same as the 742 sure grip

I hope it works out for you. I couldn't imagine driving with 4:88's.
You must redline at 40MPH.

all 8 3/4 diffs used the same spline ofr the axles so you are good there

that will not have the center pin , it has or had buttons as it is a clutch type sure grip
I would say it is not in OK shape it has surface rust on virtually all of the teeth & may be throuigh the case hardening , you may need a set of gears

Well it didn't start that good, after removing the brakedrum and loosen the 5 nuts I still don't get the axel out. I checked on my chargers 8 3/4
and that one has a locking ring to losen first but this one hasn't. The play, which you can't adjust is 0,06-0,08 inch. How do I get the axle out?

Got it out by putting the drum reversed on and pulling, this is how it looks. Not like in the manual for a -70 Cuda.
