Rant:I just want 5 minutes!
« on: May 22, 2008 - 11:01:41 AM »
If there is a God, then I hope he grants my wish.

I would like 5 minutes, in a locked room, with someone that writes and distributes computer virus's.

Just 5 minutes God, please!!!

Oh, I'm with you.   >:(

That person is hard to get any time with, though.  His name is Bill Gates, and the 'virus' is called 'Windows Vista'.

Jerry, I'm here to say yes there is, but thou shall not kill, either. Maybe rough'n them up a bit might make it under the wire! :smilielol:

Vista - Are you sure that you want to open a web browser, are you sure you want to download a file, do you know how to use a computer, are you sorry you have Vista loaded on your machine? YES to all! :villagers:

I must say virus writers are bottom feeders. I bet it is being written for their thesis.

You might find that they are the same people that sell and write virus protection programs. If your wish gets granted will you know if there is a God? I agree that the virus writers/ distributers are slimdogs' that are just malicious to everyone. They are evil.

My laptop is currently on the lamb due to a virus.  I have a Karate Girl in my Administrator log in and it loops through Safe mode over and over....  I have to dump the XP and reload it.

PITA  I thankfully was able to back up my files.  I think...

Hope you get yours sorted out.

Get a Mac if possible.  I just bought one about 3 months ago, and have not had a single problem.  They are so virus proof that you don't even need the virus protection software.  Good ole Microsoft crap.

As a computer programmer, I find talks about viruses to be interesting.  Not all of us write the virus that kills your pc or takes down a hard drive or two, but at the same time, most of us are the people who program your websites and programs that you use on a daily basis.  Programmers are always looking for something new and exciting to do/accomplish (at least I am), hence the reason I chose programming; there's 9,000 ways to skin a cat and I'm not satisfied until I know all 9,000 ways.  Now that's not to say I'll USE all 9,000 ways epecially if some are bad, but it's interesting to see other views of how to accomplish the same thing.  Hackers are the same way; always looking for a new challenge and big companies like Microsoft, Google, etc. that lay-off/fire programmers have given them ammunition to hack their software.  Some have grudges and others do it because they're hired to (yes that's right, big companies hire hackers to find exploits in their software so they can fix them).

I"m right there with you on the hate level when I get a virus but sometimes it's no fault of your own (ie. you have an unprotected wireless network that all your neighbors (unknowningly to both of you probably) use and accidentally transfer viruses that way.

Funny you should bring this up Jerry as I got a fake pop up warning banner that was running in all my windows and PC yesterday, first one in a long time. Every time I opened something it would pop up. I have no idea how the hell it got on my PC. No porn sites, blogs or video sites so, I have no idea. I downloaded Spybot Search & Destroy from another PC and loaded it. It found 7 red problems, I destroyed them and everything was fine. It picked up several others that must have been there for a while. Worth doing if you have any re-occurring problems. :2cents:

As I was replying to a post last night , I got a blue screen. I had to power off my laptop manually and restart. Then when I did , I had no MSN to sign on to. Lucky I had I.E. through the motel. I had to download msn again. It was totally gone :dunno:

:iagree:  except that nearly ALL viruses and spyware is written for the masses, which happens to be PC users running Microsoft products.  Macs can catch the same viruses and etc., but there's just a whole lot less of it available for Macs.  So thats a good thing for you!  Which Mac do you have?

A virus is nothing more than a program, so if one is written specifically for a Mac, then the Mac will become "infected" just as easily. The creeps that write these things want to do maximum damage, so they ignore the Mac because they only make up a tiny portion of the whole market.

RDF, you're preachin to the choire. I've been in programming for nearly 30 years. I know that  sometimes disgruntled exployees write these things, but most of them are written by no-life geeks who want to see how much damage they can do, and by crooks, who want to steal information. We need to just publicly execute one of them, and things would change.
