Has everyone noticed a certain member missing?
« on: May 22, 2008 - 10:54:39 PM »
It is Amanda. I had Pm'ed her to see if she was ok. Since I hadnt seen her posting I was wondering if all was ok.

She did pm me back. And made these comments, but are not direct quotes

She felt her buisness was being affected by the negative remarks, and she also felt like she wasn't wanted around here.

I assured her that she was missed by some of us members and we were all getting used to the ups and downs of her posting habbits.

I feel she is a nice person and a good member to have around.

We, (even myself) at times might have come on to her a bit strong in some ways. Stronger then she could understand.

But in my eyes, she is a welcome member and I believe that she did contribute to the site and was also polite when we were down on her

I just feel she needs some recognition here and to let her know that she should be able to come and post with us and jump right back in with us .

I have noticed a big turnaround in attitudes towards Newbies for the good. We are growing together as a team here and learning as we go.

Amanda.... Some of us were too strong in trying to voice our opinions and I am wanting to say
I am sorry if I offended you by being a little pushy or bold to you.  Your prices on your parts is yours to post. It was just the areas and bumping that seemed to to a nerve at times.

But as far as being a member here, I for one would ask you to stay, I considered you a good person at heart and would like to see you back chatting again

I hope others here will have some nice things to say in this post so I can send a link to her.  It is hard to understand words typed out on the net without expressions being implied. Some things may have been taken wrong at times.

As a member here, I want to appoligize if we were being to hard on you.     I am sorry if I caused you any grief

Now get over it and come back

:iagree: you are more than welcome here in my eyes. I never heard (read) a rude word from you and even with all of the bashing, i would not turn down your business if you had what i needed and i had the green for it. parts are parts, no matter where you get them. Please stick with us and take us with a grain of salt on the rim of a great margarita

I say as long as she would post ads in the vendor section and quit bumping everything would be fine, which she learned and started doing correctly.
I think if she posted more "socially" instead of just putting up parts of questionable value parts she would get more enjoyment from the site and better feedback from members. Honestly I think she just worked for a place that sold used musclecar parts, but was not an enthusiast herself, and it came across in her postings. 305 posts and 200 of them in parts for sale or ebay section. It's an experience thing, she should not get frustrated if she doesn't get immediate acceptance. From a pure business standpoint it should be easy to tell if the time spent here resulted in enough sales to make it worthwhile. if she isn't getting personal satisfaction or enjoyment from posting and isn't getting sales, then I would not be suprised if she quit posting here and tried something else. Ebay would be a much easier outlet that reaches more people for the same amount of effort.

Although I can certainly see her not coming around if it was not helping her business, and she was not enjoying the time here, I still hope she considers coming around again.  Although I have my own thoughts about some of the prices, nobody was forcing anyone to buy them, and some were pretty decent deals.  Some of the comments were unnecessary IMHO, and probably would have caused me to stop posting too.  I hope she can just ignore the critics, and realize that there are lots of people here who just like to have the parts available to them.  If it just wasn't fun or profitable anymore, I wish her the best.

I have never dealt with her but never had a problem with her being here , I have not needed anything she had for sale but when we need a given part to finish a project it is great to have another source to check with

OK Guys and Gals...............

In all honesty, Amanda is a great member and has asked me on several occasions for selling advice upon our beloved site.  :swaying: I have no problems at all with Amanda, but i will say that the posting saga did get out of control.  Not totally her fault but a little more self control on her behalf and the abilty to answer questions with an appropriate answer would be advisable for future references darling.
Amanda has tried to stay on the right path but is very easily persuaded and distracted by other members confusing comments. :faint:

This feels like a school report :smilielol:

Stay cool and see you back here soon sweetheart. :-*
Just control the heavy repeatition and smile more  :2thumbs:

The more the merrier. I agree with Al in that she was always respectful even when being ribbed about posting her parts as HEMI this or whatever. We have several really cool vendors here as far a I can see. She did seem to make a serious effort to join the pack in my opinion.

To every one on CC.COM,

It was nice of people to wonder where I had been but if you wanna see me on here more I would like for people to keep comments to themselves as I don't want the business hurt by it. I would like for people to help me out by telling me the types of parts they are looking for or would like to see for sale on this site and if I have them I will list them. I will take any advice you wanna give me as long as it isn't too negative. I apperciate some of the people on this site that kept me updated on what was going on and trying to keep me on here and to have a positive out look. Thanks to Moparal,sleepychallenger,4cruzin,hemiken,slotts and anyone else I might have missed. Thanks alot, Amanda

Amanda,

The best piece of advice that I could offer is to let the parts sell themselves. I think you have tried too hard. How do you accomplish that? With nice, clear pictures. You know the line, a picture is worth a thousands words. Volume statements mentioning lots of parts without pictures won't go very far. Before stating that you have this part or that part, take the pictures first. If your camera is old, it is worth the investment in a better camera. It's just part of the cost of doing business. If you don't know the answer to a question posed, that's fine. We're all human and nobody knows everything. Just let the potential buyer know, do some research and come back with an answer. Even if you can't answer someones question, it is better to be up front and say I don't know. You will raise your credibility with the potential buyer.

Here is a link to a free shareware program to help with picture resizing:
http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm

Try using just one thread in the Sales folder. When you add additional parts, just simply edit the subject line with "Updated 5-23". Then people can check in and see what else you have available. In that section there are few threads and it won't get moved back to page 4 or 5 in a short period of time as it would in the Parts for Sale section.

I asked you for a couple of pictures of a 68 - 70 B body dash dimmer switch a while back that you said you had. I reminded you a second time that I needed to see the pictures because there are about four different versions that were used and I never received anything. You really need to follow up on these type of requests.

Just my  :2cents: and hope that helps.

I had a feeling we scared her off which is not what we meant to do.I am more than happy to have her here selling parts just keep the bump posts to a minimun so it is fair to all of us selling parts.  :2thumbs:

I had a feeling we scared her off which is not what we meant to do.

That is not the atmosphere of this community.  I dont blame her for leaving in the sake of saving her business name and reputation ect.  Also Im glad to have her come back, I remember the old days when it was just 10 or so of us posting on here now it has grown in to a world wide family and its not good to loose a family member at any time!

I was hoping with the intent of post it would be an eye opener, and remind us of how many types of personalities there are here.  And everyone has feelings. Our comments reflect to how we live our lives and treat our neighbors. Keeping things out in the open and learning how to see the good and bad that comes around molds this club into being a #1 choice of sites to visit.
