Tip selection for non cutout rear valance?
« on: May 24, 2008 - 09:48:58 AM »
What are You guys/gals running for tips?  Rectangular/square/round?  No cutouts in valance.

I need to pick some quick.

Without the rear cutouts, I don't believe you can add tips, unless you jerry-rig the rear exhaust to run out underneath the valance, but I'm not sure how that would look.  Standard without the cutouts would just be the turn-down behind the rear axle, with them not being seen.

i have the cut outs, but if i didnt, i would work it so that the tips came out straight out and use the 71 RR tips. just my preference, either that or go with the T/A style exhaust

Tom,

On my 318 Challenger, with the muffler between the axle and bumper, there was just a short piece that turned down at about a 45 degree angle. I think the end was cut parallel to the ground. Man is that going back a ways.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of what tip to add to an aftermarket exhaust.  I got it done today.  H-pipe, 2 Flows 40 series and 2 Stainless tips all welded up.  No rattles now.LOL  I'll have to straighten out my camera issues.  The tips I picked are more sqaure but slightly rectangular.  If that makes sense.  It sounds insane now!

You're dead on about the sound!  I went with the rear cutouts and stock looking box tips, but to run the exhaust straight out the back gives the thing a whole new sound that's just awesome  :burnout: .  I look forward to seeing some pics of what you've done.  I'm curious to see how you worked it.

I went with these tips, stainless.  I think that the valence with the cutouts would be best but this looks and sound good too.

That looks good.  Much better than the old turn-downs.  It looks like you also moved your mufflers back to the stock location.

Yes, I had them put the mufflers under the rear seat.
