got under car pulled liilt boot off sending unit took tester put inside of boot with key on and it pulses light on tester going off and on, does this mean gauge is ok and sender is bad??????? :wavingflag: :wavingflag:

The float in the tank may have sprung a leak and hangin on the bottom. If you have pulse, you should have a gauge :2thumbs:

Hey Geneo,

It sounds like you are getting hit with the same problem as the wipers.

Check the continuity with your meter across the ground strap at the gas tank.

where would the ground strap be on the gas tank, cannot find one underneath where are they normally at , do you have any pics

 :iagree:  If it's the factory one, it's a metal strap that clamps onto the neck of the steel line coming off the sender unit and onto the steel fuel line.

If you ground the sending unit wire, the gauge should read full.  If that works, the issue may be ground or the sending unit.  As Moparal mentioned, floats can leak and sink to the bottom of the tank.  Or you could have bad sending unit.

If the gauge doesn't read full then the guage/wiring may be at fault.

If you don't have thre ground strap you can make one.  I also hit the frame in there to ensure a good ground.

My old float was sunk.
