Maybe its just me, but M51 is conspicuously absent from the fender tag, so it's not a factory roof...? That is the correct code for the sunroof, right, or am I just making an idiot out myself

M51 was not coded on E-Body tags for '70. However the VON should reflect the sunroof. I'd have to check my documentation, but I don't think an M-VON is correct for sunroof cars. Looking closer it does have the M51 on the broadcast sheet.

Just to clarify a few things. This car does not and never has been owned by the Ed guy being spoke of. Also. This is a factory sun roof challenger. It is also a VERY early production car. The M in the VON, from my understanding meant that it was used for something by the manufacturer. The road runner that we have that was the 70 road runner ad car also has a M in the VON.

That car is NOT for sale!!

For 1970 Hamtramck built cars, the broadcast sheet, advance dealer shipping notice or original factory invoice to the dealership are the only places the sunroof is coded. It does not appear on the fender tag.

M as a VON prefix on early cars means the car was built as a sales bank car for some promotional use. Once that use was over, in most cases it would have been delivered to a nearby dealership and sold as a used car.

Later in the year it just means "sales bank" it is common to find the M on AAR Cuda's & Dusters later in the model year.

WHoah. You have THAT car!
NOt to Hijack the thread, but
I want to know more about your Road Runner.

What is really strange is that I did not think that I do not think I have seen but 2 M51 cars- Sunroof cars with a Vinyl roof.
This 72 car was an M51 < http://www.pbase.com/dmz73/image/66909276 >

Wow Barry! I never knew that! I have never seen the "F Series Advertising" ever on a fender tag. Also, when you guys mention VON, I am assuming that means Vehicle Order Number? I never understood what the logic behind the numbering for those, if there is a rhyme or reason to them...
