pull the cable and speedo. see if the needle moves when you spin the cable by hand. sounds like one of the plastic pieces in there might have busted

Pull the cable loose from the transmission first.
Once it is loose, push the inner drive cable up towards the dash to make sure it is seated all the way in the speedo.
Then re-attach to transmission & test drive.
It worked for me.

sometimes the speedo gear will strip put the car up on jack stands & run it in gear & make sure the speedo drive is turning or remove the drive with the rear jacked up & visually check the drive gear

Just something else to throw out there...
You'll notice on the speedo gear houseing, that there are 3 sets of numbers. These numbers correspond to how many teeth the speedo gear has that you are useing. If for instance you are useing a 28 tooth gear, then the number range of 26-31 would be rotated to the bottom.

Pull the speedo outta the trans i had the same issue my cable broke i got a new one from the paddock installed it and it wouldnt work i messed around with it for about an hour. Said the hell with it drove it for a while with the speedo not working then one day i was doing the bolt tighting chore and decided to check the speeeeeedo gear and installed a new O-ring and bam it works. Needless to say i was shocked.
