Eddy carb reccomendation

For my almost stock 383. what eddy carb would you run. i am running a carter AVS right now and the hollys dont let me keep my factory air cleaner. I am still getting about 60 miles to half a tank    i have put in the MP electronic ignition and adjusted my timing, checked for vacuum leaks, and i just dont know what else to do. i am thinking i might have a bad carb. i did get it off of ebay!!! it has been rebuilt twice. no change.

Well the 71 383,s came with a holley (a shorter single inlet style) so a stock air cleaner should fit them. If it is stock a 625cfm carter or 600cfm EDDY should suffice but add headers, good dual ex and even a mild cam then a 750 EDDY should be better. 60 miles to half a tank seems thirsty but what gears and tranny do you have? mostly city or hiway miles?
 myself I have forgot what I get to a tank just keep an eye on the guage.lol. I,m running a 800cfm EDDY on my warmed over 383 because I know I will be going to a stroker 383 in a couple of years and didnt want to buy a diff carb just a few years later.

i am running 323 gears with a stock 727 tf. the 383 has a hemi grind cam and a .030 overbore. thats it. MP electronic ignition.... in town driving but in town is about average of 50 mph.

the Holleys had provision for A/C on some models , not sure what the issue is with yours but it could have the wrong metering block gasket in it , they take a different gasket

Maybe for your engine. But for stock/mild/cruising engines, they are extremely user friendly, easy to tweak and tune, and are very reliable. There is a place for them...

I just tried em out and had no luck thats all..........  my original 2 4 barrel setup was pretty though...

if you have to use an Eddy use the 750 AVS thunder ,it is the best if that style carb

thanks guys. if i had a holley that would let me keep my stock air cleaner i would probably use it. my gas mileage went down, i am getting about 130 miles to a tank. 18 gal tank. that is 7.2 MPG. What the heck.

man I only get 2.1 miles to the gallon in my 18 gallon tank.....
