Buying a 1970 Challenger and Kowalski!
« on: May 30, 2008 - 10:18:12 PM »
Greetings everyone! I've recently moved to the USA from the UK.
After watching so many great Mopar films, I've decided to buy a classic Dodge Challenger.I'm thrilled to bits.
It's not number matching or anything like that, and my intention is to lavish attension on it and use it day to day.
The car is a 440 Cu In R/T tribute- with a heavily modifed engine- seems to have headers, an 11:1 CR and a single plane manifold- I'll find out more as I pick up the car and learn more. I work in engine R and D and have been involved in quite alot of engine performance development activities for Ford, Jaguar and Aston Martin, and even worked in Germany for a while- but these Pushrod dinosaurs are new to me and I'm quite keen to learn!
I dont live far from work and the climate here in SC is great so I dont have any qualms about using it day to day!
What I was wondering was, that I would LOVE a license plate frame that says
"Kowalski lives!" or something like that (kowalski the main hero from "Vanishing Point")- I wonder if anyone has made a license plate frame like this and if so-where could I get hold of one? If not- would it be possible to get one made?

Hi Hemiken,
yes indeed it is!
I went all over it last weekend- its a clean car. The Turn signal doesnt work and its missing a fender tag- which I'm not too worried about.
The car is spotless, underneath and throughout!
I'm driving up there to settle up the balance and watch it go on the transporter

Welcome to the site Rex! Nice Challenger.

As far as license plate frames go, there will be a crowde who makes custom ones.
If there is one in NZ, there will be one in the USA. Google it. ;)

Hi guys! Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'm also a member of a German BMW "M" forum and a Porsche forum. The BMW "M" forum isnt warm or friendly or helpful at all :villagers:, the Porsche forum is suprisingly great, but perhaps not filled with as many knowlegable enthusiasts as here! :woohoo:
I think I was misunderstood when I talked about license plate frames!
I will get South Carolina 'vanity plates' probably- but when I talked about the license plate FRAMES I meant the license plate frame- that sometimes perhaps have dealer decals or other wise ass comments on them!
Well it is on this license plate surround I would love to have "Kowalski Lives" after the hero from the film that got me into Challengers! If anyone knows if this is possible- or if there is a place where these license plate surrounds/frames could be custom made- that would be very helpful. :2thumbs:

I agree - that's way cool.  I might have to get one of those for myself!

Welcome aboard Rex and welcome to the US.  As you're already finding out, this is the best forum on the web - almost everyone here is friendly and helpful, without any flame wars.  The mods keep a tight lid on when one threatens to break out and the members do a very good job of self-policing.  Let's see some more pics of that Challenger!
