tranny slipping in reverse
« on: May 30, 2008 - 11:53:54 PM »
i just got done hooking up the lokar kickdown cable today and i will say that most of my issues disappeared. the one thing i still notice is that once in a while when i first fire up the tranny seems to slip only in reverse for about 20ft then clears up and away it goes. is this something to be concerned with?
it also is leaking from the coverter area and is a bit of a dog out of the hole [ wich may be a motor issue, still trying to figure that out].

Sounds to me like your linkage is still not adjusted right. My challenger was doing the same thing and it eventually burned up the clutches. After having the tranny rebuilt the builder tuned it at his shop. It turned out the linkage was the problem that caused the tranny to fry. It took him about 15 minutes to do it. Take it to a tranny guy and let him check it over. Then you'll know.

If reverse is what you are putting it in first thing (backing out of the garage) then it might be normal drain back and would delay going into forward too. Try starting it up in neutral and see what it does next time.

:iagree: with tactransman, When starting a torqueflite in park the pump will not pump fluid around the gearbox until a gear other than park is selected.  I always start my car in park and then pull it straight into neutral to let the fluid pump around before moving the car.   :2thumbs:
