On a lot of street combos, open headers isn't worth any gain at all as the exhaust is not a significant enough restriction to imped power output. Similarly, mild combos may not react to really fine tuning tweaks like a more sensitive combination of parts will. It also is possible that weather variations can mask minute tuning adjustments as well.

While some dismiss their validity, time spent on a chassis dyno to nail down the tune up can be well worth the money spent. Consider four trips to the track and their combined gas, food, entry fees, and frustration only to go backwards on progress, and you can see why a few hundred bucks spent on the dyno can start to look like a value.

All of your posts are informative... thanks man - really

Have you checked your cam lift? The lobes may have been wiped, they don't all make a noise when gone.   :faint:

checked cam today and it is 3* retarded. the guy that helped me said that to make things worse, in his expierience a 109* centerline is max and with mine being 3* out that would put me at 112* .
so i will be doing a cam change and have some questions.
i have solid lifters now, is the change to roller's worthwhile?
i have 10.25:1 comp with ported x heads and manual brakes, i would like to go as nuts as i can but be streetable, any cam suggestions.
i also have in my possesion a set of eddie heads that i had planned on porting and adding this winter but i might do it now since i'm tearing it down anyway, would i have to change my cam again with the eddies?
how much hp increase in porting the eddies?

 :iagree:

That's what I did...  It's about 6.24 lift and 246 duration.  Runs real nice :)
