Been busy on the 'Cuda the past few weekends....I put my headers on to see how they would fit and turned out the driver's side was hitting slightly on the 2 inner pipes (on the steering box). So I took it to a good friend of mine who's done all the fabrication on my car (frame rail supports, motor plate, etc.) and he was able to bang them in with a dolly and hammer. Took them home and tried them again....they fit but it was still pretty close, so instead of taking it back down to him (30m away) I just used a ball peen hammer and modified it myself.
Had to push it in my bigger garage....I forgot how heavy this thing was with the motor in it
Just this past month I've heard of 2 stories where guys didn't have jack stands under their cars while working on them and the car fell on them.....unreal....I've put 3 on this side plus a floor jack on the motor for my own safety.
Driver's side looks ok with the motor jacked up.
But as you can see, the 2nd pipe is definitely touching and the first was too (a bit further down) but I couldn't get my camera on it.
Passenger side? No problems!
Here's a
rough outline of where the pipes are hitting. I just wanted to give my friend a larger reference point rather than relying on the minor scratches where it was hitting.
This was the clearance I had after my friend did the work. I wasn't comfortable with the left pipe still being close so I hammered it in some more.
Once I did that, it had more clearance and I felt better about it. As you can see, the outline of where the indention needed to be made came in handy.
So after all that, I took them down to a local place called Performance Kote and are having them coated with black ceramic. It'll take about a week or so to get them back but I'll be excited to see how they look!
Still looking for some help on a proportioning valve.....I don't want an adjustable one (for the reason I simply don't know how to adjust them or what it's actually adjusting) so looking for anything stock or something that will replace stock.
