Stroke should be 90% of bore? That's a new one on me. Stroke determines rpm of power peaks. There is no perfect one. Otherwise My neon and a Pro stock would share it. It's not even the stroke, but the combination of rod, stroke, and block, that makes thigs wear out faster. I wont use a piston shorter than Brandon's 505/512 package with the 7.1 rod, and I dont like oil support rings on a street engine. But like Mike says, it's all opinion.
