I've run two 6 packs on 440 engines. the first I ordered a brand new setup from Mopar, bolted it on and went for a drive. Never had to do any adjusting at all and it ran like a bat out of hell. The second was an original direct connection setup with mechanical outboards and I did the same thing with it, just bolted it on and went for a ride and once again no tuning required. I hear a lot of people complain of 6 packs being hard to tune and stay in tune, but from my experience they are the best thing since sliced bread.

it is not a whole lot more complicated then setting a 4 bbl as long as you think of the system as a 4 bbl & tune accordingly

I had 1 440/6 and one small block 6 pack.  I never had any problems setting them up.  Still considering another 6 pack for my car now.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I've heard both ends....good and bad...usually, the good is from those that have runthem in their car and know first hand....the bad is usually from those who never had them in their car but have tried to tinker with them and had bad luck.....either way, Vic knows them inside and out and said he could rebuild them from scratch if needed, that's how good he knows them.  He runs them on one of his dusters and gets about 13-14mpg out of it.....So if anyone knows of any 6-pack setups/parts, please let me know.....I'll try to piece one together if I can't find the whole thing....

Neil, I called that guy you refered me to a while back about a 6-pack but never heard from him.... :dunno:

You are dead nuts, I have never owned one (6pk) and am not overly familar with them.  I was not speaking from experience, but from my friends and family over the years.  I hope your 6pk works out!  I think they are awesome!  Good luck bro!

Ok, sorry for the LONG, overdue update, but I've been battling some things personally that have kept me away from this site so long.

Here's the Balancing sheets on my rotating assembly.  I lucked out because the guy doing my motor just got a brand new machine, so mine was the 2nd one on it to be balanced. If you look at the 1st sheet, on the bottom you'll see the Final Spin.....Target Tolerance is 0.2 oz-in; that's Pro-Street/NASCAR area from what I've been told.....mine are LEFT SIDE: 0.07 and RIGHT SIDE 0.05!!  :ylsuper:  And check out the page 2 on the Rod weights and Piston & Pins weights....only .1 off on just a few.....

So, needless to say, I am SUPER happy with these results.....

I just dropped the heads off to him (452's) and he will check them for cracks, put all new hardware in them and open them up slightly as well.  We then need to decide on a cam (before purchasing all the valves/springs, etc.)

I need to call him next week to see what setup he will recommend and then we can go from there.

Yes, you are correct Stroker.....unfortunately, funds are at an all time LOW.....LOL....so I'm looking to get my motor done as best I can, for what I can afford.  The nice thing is I'll be able to upgrade those heads later on and gain more hp from the motor.  :naughty:

Sorry for the long, overdue update, but as some of you know on this forum, I was hit with the unexpectancies (sp?) of life about 6 months ago and found out my wife had Thyriod cancer.  She underwent the 10 hour surgery and is recovering to almost 100% now.....no sign of that aweful c word.....let's hope it stays that way.

So I've had some time to think of my motor and ways to fund it now that the economy is in the hole and the new medical bills.....so I decided to sell my motor, transmission, and exhaust out of the car.  I know I won't be able to drive ti for a while, but I've got some other big plans that require it to be tied up for some time as well, so it's not a big issue.

Today I am taking it to the buyers work and we are pulling all that.....it'll be nice because it's a shop and he had all the air tools, engine hoist, etc.

I'll post some pics when done.....but with the $$$ I get from this, I should be able to purchase my cam, lifters, springs, windage tray, balancer, oil pan and a few other odd ends.......which will complete the motor beside the accessories (water pump, alt., etc).   :cooldancing:

Hey Bob,
Glad to hear your wife is doing well. That's what's important. Also glad you are able to keep the car and re-group. Sounds like a good plan. You'll be up and running before you know it and have a drivetrain done to your exact specs. I went almost the same route with my car. I had a decent 440, but always wanted to build a stroker. I put together a plan, pulled and sold my old motor and about 6 months later had a wicked stroker. Now it's all fun. Keep us posted on the project and good luck. I'll keep your wife in my prayers for a complete recovery!!

Thanks guys...much appreciated....

Got the motor pulled today...there were 3 of us so the motor, transmission, and exhaust was out in 2.5
hours....not too shabby.....here's some pics...I didn't get many, mainly because I was trying to help!  LOL

I'm not in any of these, but the guy in black is the one who bought it....he's got a 67 Dart that he'll be putting it in.  I told him about the site so hopefully he'll join.  I made a good friend today....hoping to ride with him in the future.   :2thumbs:
