One observation sprecks,  You may want to cover your dash and windshield and any glass left in the quarters when doing any welding or grinding. I had a good windshield in my old R/T that is now covered in welding and grinding spatter. Melted right into the windshield plastic coating.  Another expense that I didn't need. A welding blanket was less than $20 at Harbor Freight and I now use it to cover anything in the area of sparks.   Check your dash guages for anything already stuck on the faces.

I got it up on the rotisserie. Know its time to clean up all of the plug welds made during the floor pan installation. After that I'll get some paint on the underside. I'm open to any suggestions on how to finish the bottom. I haven't decided whether to paint it black, gray or the same color as the body . Maybe I Should POR-15 it first?

If it's going to be real nice I'd paint the bottom the same as the top. Sure looks good from here!   Isn't POR-15 for rough, rusty surfaces?  Mayby a spray in bedliner product?   Thanks for the pics!!

The car is going to be a driver. I've used POR-15 on rusty surfaces before like you suggested. I thought maybe it would preserve the new metal. I like your idea of bedliner paint.

I used the roll on Herculiner on the bottom of the Bronco. It pretty tough stuff and not to thick.

Maybe I Should POR-15 it first?

POR-15 dries really thick. Might be good for creeping between the welded seams. Rhino-Lining is supposed to be bullet proof. I guess I'll see how yours turn out before I do mine.

I had the day off today and the wife had to work so I got about 7 good hours in on the car. I got the pasenger side lower cowl patched and the patch panel fabricated for the driver side outer wheel house. Just need to finish trimming out the old wheel house and weld in the patch. With any luck I'll have it welded in tomorrow. Hopefully the pictures give you a good idea what I did today. I feel like things are moving along pretty good. Now if I can just keep up the momentum I'll have this baby painted this summer. Time for a cold one.

I believe SEM makes a tintable bed-liner... you could have the best of both worlds. I used POR 15 on the bare metal, then a coat of SEM body shutz (paintable) and then topped it off with a coat of POR15 Chassis Black. It was very inexpensive to do and I could strap it off and it looks shiny again. POR15 by itself will dull with exposed to the elements.

spreck very good work ,por 15 keeps coming up here and other threads .i have 25 years in this business im seeing many cars come in with older restos and the por comes of with  a razor blade in sheets .i think its ok on clean metal but comes of with the rust attached .also i used the roll on liner tinted on my truck bed 71 chevy .the real problem is cleaning it after awhile it looks just like dirty body deadner, its great on note lot cars but your car deserves better .also i see many ads on line when a guy sells a car with liner it seems to scare the buyers fear of cover up ,food for thought cant wait to see your car as it goes together .

Thanks for the input. I think the way I'm going to go is with a 2K epoxy primer then basecoat and polyurethane clearcoat. It may be a little more work but I will probably be happier with it. Thanks for everyones thoughts and suggestions.

It's been almost three months since I did an update on my project. I apoligize for not having pictures and I'll get some up after this weekend. It is coming along good. All of the welding is done and I've got the bottom in primer. Hopefully will have the bottom in color within the week.
I've decided to go back to the cars original Top Banana paint and I'll be staying with the white interior and top.
I am debating what colors to do the R/T stripe in. I really want to go with white but i'm not sure how that will look with the black rear spoiler and black shaker.
I'm thinking that maybe I should do away with the spoiler and paint the shaker argent or maybe paint the spoiler yellow too. 
Anyone have any suggestions? Will the yellow, white and black look OK together? I'm usually pretty good at visualizing this stuff but I'm really having a hard time this time.

I'm finally making progress that is worth taking pictures of. I had a pretty good day in the garage today. Got the bottom of the car painted. Next step is to put the rearend and front end in it this weekend. I just got a set of polygraphite bushings for all four corners, frontend rebuild kit and new leaf springs to firm up the suspension. I'm changing the color from Red, back to the original Citron Yella (GY3). The last picture in this post shows the remains of the only remaining piece of original paint.

After I got the PPG DP epoxy primer on I started spraying the basecoat then the clearcoat. It looks kind of funky with the red body panels next to the yellow. I think I'm going to like the yellow though. My wife isn't too thrilled about it though. She would have preferred me staying with the red. I keep reassuring her that it's going to be OK. She just can't vision a diamond in the rough.
