Pulled in the driveway yesterday afternoon after the monsoon like rain.  Parked the 88 Daytona and started clearing out some trees.  Later I went back to the Daytona only to find all the oil running down the driveway.  Looks like I creased the oil pan on the way up the hill.  Anyone know how hard it will be removing the oil pan "in the wild"  The manual says: 

After raising the vehicle, remove the oil pan attaching bolts ...

then lower the oil pan from the engine block.

Yeah right !

If I remember correctly, the 4 cyls are pretty easy with very little in the way.

Putting it back in today after welding it up.  Wonder what will go wrong.

Remember that welding makes burning hot molten metal. Molten metal plus oil equals fire.

Nope, no fire ( I'm well versed in getting burned ! )

Of course, when I went to put the special Felpro one piece gasket on, it doesn't fit.  The package says 88 - 92 but I'm betting it really fits 89 - 92.

Oh well,  off to the parts store tomorrow for the crappy 4 piece.

Now I know something is wrong,  The 4 piece cost $15 instead of $40 for the 0ne piece.  It came off easy, went back on easy, no leaks.

Just don't forget to put the drain plug back in. Better yet, remember to put oil back in it!!

I hear ya !  I kept ticking off the list in my mind the whole time.  My eyes were glued to the oil pressure needle the whole test drive.
