I just ran my BFG drag radials down to 17 psi and they hooked pretty good but I`m still experimenting.Get a log book and keep track of your times and changes made on each run.To keep things simple and be able to tell which change makes a difference do only one change per run-change pressure,longer/shorter burnout, launch rpm etc. but don`t do more than one change or you will not know which one affected the ET.It will take some time due to limited number of runs per night but you`ll just have to keep making runs which ain`t a bad thing!

Well it's a stoker so there is more tq down low.  But I feel I should be able to get better than what I was able to accomplish with out them.  I did run a new best though by about 3.5 tenths even though the 60' was within a tenth of my best before.

My best run before last trip was 13.19 and this 12.84 vs 2.09 60 and 2.01 60.

I have clamps on the forward sections just one on each side at the end of the leaf.

Torred thanks for the tip, I need to get up there more.  My MIL just moved up that way so I have a place to limp to if something happens :violin:

I presume all you guys know to never come out of the water in 1st gear? You will screw up your spag in the case and explode your tranny.

I leave it in drive since I have a regular valve body.  It shifts into second by itself during the burnout.  I don't pull it into low until I'm at the line stopped.

Tom :dunno:

Hope thats right.

What you don't want to do is get the tires spinning and then pull out of the water in low and have the tires suddenly stop. I saw a TF explode when a guy did that with 14/32 slicks. It's best to always shift it into second on the burnout and drive it out of the water and keep them spinning....  :burnout:

I'm going to try and heat them up a bit more next time, or at least rev it up a bit more.

Thanks for the advice.

Tom.. .a few things.. those tires work best with very little burnout. DO NOT drive thru the water. Drive around it, and back up but not into it. Give it a short quick burnout and pull intothe lights. As far as tricks... I know you drive in.. so... remove the end links from the front and rear sway bars. Also, that front rake you have with the street radials (not the 17s) is terrible for weight transfer. And, if you're really bored, you can make sure the pinion snubber is where it's supposed to be. Lookks very wet for Saturday... regardless of track..

Thanks Dave,

I do drive around the water and back in.  I got video somewhere here.LOL

Also I corrected the front end issue last weekend, I raised it back up a bit I was too low(just above the lower bump stop).

Drives much better anyways with less "jeeping".LOL

I'll try a quick burnout next time too, but may not be this weekend eitherway due to the weather.

Endlinks will come off on the front at least, they back isn't as simple.

Thanks
Tom

Should I have the snubber closer?

Tom

IIRC it is 1/2" -3/4" from the floor.

That's close enough  :2thumbs:  You can always find a back road or parking lot to experiment with the tires and air pressure. Wish I could be more help but I've never owned Drag radials. Always had slicks.

If the rest of the rear suspension is set up right, the snubber can be about 1/2 that distance to the floor. I like 1/4" of daylight. This usually means some modifying of the snubber. It may be easier to loosen the bushing brackets on the rear... You just want the bar to be able to rotate easily.

Thanks Dave I'll give it a shot.

I was doing some welding last weekend and managed to catch a magnet on my forehead, so not sure I'm going back under the car soon.LOL

I've already modified this snubber to get it here.  If I move it up it will have to be with some hardened washers I suspect.
I can fine tune the distance this way though.

Tom

BTW the car is sitting pretty level now so maybe I will get some decent movement on the front now.

If it's too close it'll bang on the floor over every bump in the road. You can see it's been contacting the floorboard there, so it should be OK.

Thanks, I think that pic is an old one from when I first put it on, I don't remember it hitting at all.  I will have to check it.  Maybe I can adjust it before I go to the strip and switch it back after.  It wants to hit the floor on launch right?  I don't think I've ever heard it hit.  Will I hear it?

Probably won't hear it hit with all the other noise. You can always spray a little primer on that contact area to see it it's hitting....
