Anyone Seen One Of These In Real Life???
« on: June 10, 2008 - 04:47:35 PM »
A925 engine program. This was a double-overhead-camshaft design with four valves per cylinder. Very interesting there is a lot of this and that about this engine, word on the street is that only two were build and never ran ect.  Anyone here got any info on this thing other than what is on the picture???

I've seen that photo before, but really never heard more information than what was published with that photo.

I think Larry Shephard builds them. He was an old brand name guy back in the day

I've never seen a real one but from what I understand, Mopar never got past the development mule cause Nascar outlawed them as soon as they heard about them.  The Ford was a SOHC engine in response to the Hemi, which Nascar also outlawed.  Nascar sure did take the fun out of the horse power wars!  It would've been a cool engine, but what would it fit in?  They added height to the heads and valve covers to make room for the cams, and it was a big engine to begin with!

That's a wild looking monster. I wonder what kind of numbers it would have produced in way of torque & power!! I see the numbers, but can't quite read them. Maybe someone can enlarge or list the engine specs!! :dunno:

It looks like it should have been a massive beast, however if you look at the picture that motor couldn't run. The cam timing belts covered the water pump inlet for a start, it looks like a mock up for publicity purposes.
We can only dream of what it could have been though.

It doesn't seem very well thought-out though - exposed timing belts?  And the timing belt passes right over the inlet on the water pump?  It kinda looks like someone through some shiny parts together and snapped a photo.

Definitely looks BIG though!

I think one of those engines may have been in the '72 Hemi Cuda Burpin' was talking about....  :misbehaving:   :roflsmiley:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I thought the Ball-stud hemi had plugs in a more standard location (not through the middle of the valve covers). There were a couple of hemis that were built like that (the name D-5 is stuck in my head for some reason), HPM had a write up on those things in '97 or '98...
