latch spring

does anyone know if there is a plate that the latch spring toches on the hood when it is closed?  mine is already tearing the paint of the top of the hood.

You might try taking a plastic cap from a bottle or jug and place it over the top of the spring before you close your hood. When you're at a car show, just put it in your pocket and no one's the wiser. ;)

Just hits the hood. A 35mm flim cap is what I used when I was showing mine.
