Believe it or not I have  seen a 71 hemi cuda restored that started out worse than that Charger and the restorers did not rebody it and have documented proof of the restoration. I think Galen was even over saw the restoration to verify that the car was not rebodied. I think it would be a fun project that I would be willing to undertake, but there are only a select few other cars that I would be willing to undertake that large of a restoration for.

I find it hard to believe this makes sense financially.  Forget about the legal aspects.  It would take $100k plus the $25k they paid for the title and drivetrain.  What are these cars going for?

It does make sense........... I could see a skilled body man piece that back together easily especialy with what parts are availble on the market today.  It would be an intense restoration or reserection what ever the case maybe, but it would be a worth while piece of Mopar history to save in any condition, as long as everything did coinside with one another and it turned out to be the real deal Daytona........... :2thumbs: Just my  :2cents:

I agree, would probably cost 2x what the car would be worth in the end to repair it. Would need a donor car or 2. Plus all the daytona specific stuff is gone, what is good on the car? The turn signal lever? To quote the auction questions "...120mph crash, then pushed off a cliff into a ravine and stripped..". I still think you will see this vin on another car for sale in a couple of years. I like restorations as much as the next guy, but this is pretty silly.

That car done is worth over a quarter of a million. SO yes financially it makes since, especially since he was able to track down the numbers engine and transmission. I would have paid it if I had it. Especially is I did the restoration myself, because I don't count my time as money into the car because one way or another I would be restoring a car.
