PRO-CON 100amp one wire ALT.
« on: June 14, 2008 - 04:18:12 PM »
I am currently getting a bit of a drain on my current (Stock) alt. The lights are dim, the gauge really drags when anything is being used and things dim when my signals are one. So I am now looking into a 100amp one wire, but wanted to get some feedback before jumping head first into spending the cash. As I can get a chrome 60-75amp from work for 70 bucks. So what should I do? (no power windows, locks, but would like to maintain power)
I have never had problems with it starting or dead batteries, it seems to be charging ok, but just is a little weak when it comes to accessories and I planned to add a few more and want to make sure it keeps up. Would love feedback. I am doing some other things to the car and will be repairing some old wires in the harness, so I thought now would be a great time to think this over.

Hope it helps! Also may want to consider wiring the headlights onto relays as well, that is a great electrical system improvement on these old cars. Both my site and the MAD electrical site have write-ups on it.
