I wouldn't rule out butterscotch just because someone else had that color.  He may decide to paint his car turquoise sometime in the future.  If you really don't like it go with what you like.  If you are still on the fence about the color and intend to restore the car close to original than go with butterscotch.

My intention was to bring the color scheme back to original but little else. My car was a 318 car and I want to go with a low deck stroker to mimic the biggest air conditioned car in 71 with or without a 4 speed. I want to make a low deck stroker and badge it out like a base 383-4 car. So taking that into consideration it makes no sense to go by the data plate on the color scheme(which I am going to do anyway) and then do what I want on the drivetrain. I am 99% sure I will go with '69 Seafoam Turquoise which I believe is a one year only color even though there is a Q5 in 70 and I think 71. I dont know if I am right or not but I heard that the blue/green metal flake of that year is unique. All I know is that I love it with a white top/interior. Thanks so much for all the replies. Just remember that when some know-it-all moron comes over to you and says that your car is the wrong color, tell him that the car is extremely rare because it has a one in a million fender tag error.

LOL I would never be critical of anothers car. We all pour blood, sweat, tears and cubic dollars into our machines to make them how we want them. When one of those types tells me anything I just give them the middle finger salute. joke'm if they cant take a ****

There might be another option here too - sell your car to someone who really likes that color and buy one in the original color you want. 

I get the feeling you are still on the fence about the color change and personally I like to keep mine the original colors too but yeah, it's your car so...
